Microchipping Your Pet

Microchipping Your Pet

Is your pet microchipped? If not, then it may be time to consider having this done for your pet. After all, a microchip just could be the difference between recovering your lost pet and, sadly, never seeing it again. Here at Belpar Pet Care Centre, microchipping is just one of the many veterinary services we have to offer.

What is Microchipping?

Microchipping refers to the implantation of a microchip underneath your pet's skin. Typically, this chip is implanted just between the shoulder blades. A microchip contains contact information for the pet's owner so that, in the event the pet is lost, the chip can be scanned and the owner can be reached to retrieve the pet.

Benefits of Canton Microchipping

Many pet owners fail to understand why microchipping is a better option than simply having your dog or cat wear a collar with tags. If your pet escapes, there's a good chance it could lose its collar, especially while running underneath fences or engaging in other physical activity. If this were to happen, your pet would lose all of its identification, making it difficult for you to be reunited with your pet down the road.

With a microchip, you never have to worry about your pet "losing" the chip because it's embedded underneath the skin. Not to mention, having  the chip implanted is painless and takes just a few seconds when done by a Canton veterinarian. Most pets don't even realize that the chip has been implanted by the time it's done.
